An effective recognition culture can only be achieved when recognition is visible and fully integrated with employee communications, making it accessible to all.
We help clients embed a recognition culture through Social Recognition, to publicly announce and share both peer-to-peer and manager-to-employee recognition moments across the whole organization. Our Social Recognition feature optimizes a social media style scrolling wall. They can congratulate each other’s recognition moments using the reaction toolbar and the comments function. When employees engage in great behavior, it extends the moment of recognition as well as educating on what great looks like at their organization.
We see an average 73% increase in peer-to-peer recognition in client organizations when Social Recognition is activated.
How it works
Social Recognition takes peer-to-peer and manager-to-peer moments of recognition and makes them public by adding them to a social media interface/scrolling wall feed.
Colleagues can contribute comments, and use the reaction toolbar – both of which are also visible to everyone in the organization – to extend their congratulations to those recognized through the feed. If any comments are posted by accident or are inappropriate, the sender and the HR administrator all have the ability to remove the post at any time.
NB. For eCard clients, all employees will see the ‘send eCard’ button, and for InstantAwards clients, only managers who’ve been assigned recognition budgets will see the ‘Send Award’ button.
After the sender selects the recipient/s and who they wish to recognize, they’re guided step-by-step through the sending process, ensuring that the recipient receives a meaningful recognition moment.
Why it's important to make recognition visible and social
We know that recognition is at the heart of employee engagement. It features at the very top of the Employee Engagement Bridge and is an essential part of achieving a positive culture.
In a recent study by Reward Gateway, more than half of workers would rather work for a business with a culture where they received recognition over a higher salary job where they didn't receive any recognition.
It’s particularly important for employers to recognize behavior which supports their company's goals and values as this encourages employees to live by those values. It connects employees to the fabric of an organization and unites them in what great looks like.
Employee recognition shapes culture and culture drives business performance
When employees are regularly and meaningfully recognized for their work, they feel a greater sense of commitment and loyalty to their employer. And that means they'll be more likely to embrace their responsibilities with a greater sense of purpose, care and thought.
Each of Reward Gateway's recognition products enables our clients to build social cohesion and strong recognition cultures which continually feed employees' intrinsic motivation levels.
