Social Recognition takes peer-to-peer and manager-to-peer moments of recognition and makes them public by adding them to a social media interface/scrolling wall feed - the Social Wall.
Read on to learn more about the key features that can help clients promote a culture of meaningful recognition through the Social Wall.
Shared recognition moments
All recognition moments sent through eCards, InstantAwards™ or Nominations can be shared to the Social Wall.
At the implementation stage, clients can decide which of these products they want the Social Wall to host. For any products that are not added to the Social Wall, all recognition will be sent privately (i.e. only forwarded to the recipient, and never shared).
Please note: Nominations will be posted to the Wall once they have been approved and the relevant awards have been sent to the recipients
If any messages are posted by accident or are inappropriate, the sender, the recipient, and any user with Social Recognition Administrator permissions on the program all have the ability to remove the post at any time.
Comments and reactions
Every recognition moment shared on the Social Wall comes with a reaction toolbar and a comment box, visible to everyone in the organization so colleagues can extend their congratulations to those recognized. Employees can also react and reply to any comments other colleagues have left.
Range of reactions available
Comments and replies
If any comments are posted by accident or are inappropriate, the sender of the recognition and the HR administrator have the ability remove the post, and the person who commented can edit or delete their comment.
Clients who prefer to display recognition moments without the option to react and / or comment can get in touch with their Client Success Manager to request that reactions and / or comments are disabled.
Downloading and printing recognition moments
Employees have the ability to download any of the public recognition moments visible on the Wall, and generate a printable PDF they can share with others (see example below).
This makes it easy to print the recognition message and artwork, which can help engage employees who work offline.
Sharing recognition moments
Employees have the ability to copy a shareable link for any public recognition post. The link can be shared with colleagues via email or pasted on any other communication channel (e.g. Slack, team chats, etc.), helping increase the visibility of the recognition moment within the business, and prompt more people in the organization to react and comment.
The link can only be opened by individuals who are eligible to log in or register on the platform, and leads to a dedicated landing page where they can see all details of the recognition.
Flexibility to filter the most relevant content
Filters help employees refine their feed, and enable them to get further insight into recognition happening in different areas of the business. For example, if an employee wants to take a look at the recognition happening in a specific location or department, filters allow them to do so.
Employees can:
-
Filter the recognition moments on the Wall based on the sender and/or recipient (as long as they are registered users)
-
Narrow down results to one or more specific employee groups (e.g. all recognition sent by employees in the London office OR in the Product department)
-
Easily find the groups they belong to (in the "My Groups" section)
-
Easily filter recognition sent or received by people in their team, through a "My Direct Reports" filter (if they are appointed as Line Managers through the employee data file)
-
Save any of the custom searches they make, so they can quickly reuse them in future
- Subscribe to weekly digests of recognition posted within a saved filter. These emails go out every Sunday, at 9am in the employee's timezone, unless there has been no recognition within the saved filter in the previous week, and users can change their mind and unsubscribe at any time.
Please note: available filters vary for each client, as they depend on the employee data clients supply through their eligibility files. To understand what filters are available and request that they are added to the Social Wall, clients can contact their Client Success Manager or the Client Support Team.
Company-wide filtering settings
Clients can choose to pre-set employees' default view of the Wall, so that every time they visit it, their experience begins with the content that is most relevant to them. This can be particularly helpful to large organizations, or to organizations spread across wide geographical areas.
To achieve this, clients can request to their Client Success Manager that one of the segmentation fields they are supplying in your eligibility file (e.g. department, location, etc.) is set as a Company Filter.
For example, if they choose the Department field as a Company Filter, every user who opens the Wall will see the recognition written and received in their own department by default (they can then manually switch to a different filter).
Please note: the Company Filter does not apply to any Social Recognition tiles on the SmartHub homepage.
Clients can also request to automatically subscribe all eligible users (that they can provide an email address for in the eligibility file) to a weekly recognition digest.
-
- A weekly recognition digest can be set up to cover all recognition on the Wall, or the chosen Company Filter only
- The weekly email digest displays a random selection of 20 recognition posts sent within the chosen filter in the previous week, to encourage employees to react and comment
- The email goes out every Sunday, at 9am in each employee's timezone. It does not go out if there has not been any recognition posted to the Wall in the previous week
- A weekly recognition digest can be set up to cover all recognition on the Wall, or the chosen Company Filter only
Sending recognition from the Social Wall
The Social Wall also offers a starting point for employees who want to recognize colleagues with eCards orInstantAwards™.
- If eCards are available on the program, all employees who are eligible to send them will see a ‘Send eCard’ button.
- If Instant Awards are available on the program, managers who have been assigned recognition budgets will see a ‘Send Award’ button, which won't be visible to anyone else.
At the end of the sending flow, they will be able to choose whether to 'Send & Share' their recognition moment (i.e. display it on the Social Wall for others to react and comment), or 'Send Privately' (i.e. send it to the recipient without sharing it on the Wall).
A private recognition post will still show on the Wall, highlighted with a lock and only visible by the sender and recipient, so they can leave comments and reactions that will also be private and only shown to them.
Clients who want recognition moments to always be displayed on the Social Wall can get in touch with their Client Success Manager to request that the 'Send Privately' button is disabled.
Birthdays
The Social Wall hosts a Birthday tile, to make it easy for employees to learn about their colleagues' birthdays and send them recognition to celebrate.
- The tile will show the birthdays of registered users who have a birthday in the next 7 days. If there are not any birthdays in the next 7 days, it will show birthdays coming up in the next 3 months
- Content is based on the dates of birth clients have uploaded through their eligibility files
- Year of birth and age are never displayed
- Birthdays are hidden by default when employees first register. Users who want their birthdays to appear on the tile can opt into sharing them from their Profile on the site
Clients who do not want the Birthday tile displayed on the Social Wall can get in touch with their Client Success Manager to request that it is disabled.
