Global | Employee Communications | Clearer UX for Blog Announcements
Clients using our Blogs tool may already be aware of the ability to send a company-wide Announcement when they publish a new blog post, by using the toggle shown in the image below. To ensure this feature isn't over-used by bloggers (and employees feel 'spammed'), bloggers can only create an Announcement at the point of publishing the post. Feedback from clients told us that this wasn't clear, so we've made the toggle appear disabled and added help text (visible only to bloggers and admins) after the post has been published (see below image).
We know that sometimes bloggers need to make their post an 'announcement' after it's been posted. To do this, they must unpublish the post and then re-publish it after a few minutes, remembering to switch on the toggle. However, the best time to make the article an announcement is before publishing it.

The Connect+ App is a fantastic tool for employers to keep their people connected to company mission, purpose and values, as well as the latest and most important company news. This tool is particularly useful for desk-less employees and remote workers.
From the end of March, alerts about blog content, which already exist on the website, will become available on the Connect+ App. Employees who use the app will receive a push notification when:
- There’s a new important announcement on a blog
- There’s a new post from an author they follow
- There’s a new post in a blog they follow
- Someone comments on a post they’ve written
- Someone reacts to their blog post
Push notifications are a crucial feature of the app; they help to instantly connect employees with recognition happening across the organization.
Combining real-time communications and recognition moments, the app will help organisations achieve the following benefits:
- Unite and connect workforces through consistent and visible updates
- Quickly and effectively send important company news and updates to everyone
- Increase employee engagement through effective communications and continuous social recognition linked to values

The addition of blog alerts is sure to make employees working from home feel less isolated.
