The move is part of the retailer’s strategy to focus its resources and investment in the performance cycling market through the Tredz brand which has a differentiated and specialist customer proposition. Tredz is a market leading online and specialist performance cycling business, which has strong brand awareness and customer loyalty and a superior business model in this part of the cycling market.
With investment in the Tredz business, alongside the core Halfords Retail cycling business, Halfords will be uniquely placed to serve both the enthusiast and the mainstream customer in a more economic way than it does today.
The cycling brands that will not be retained as part of the Halfords Group due to the Cycle Republic store closures are:
- Bobbin
- Charge
- Gocycle
- LeeCougan
- LOOK
However it is important to note that employees are still able obtain these brands via the Independent Bike network. Employees can use the store locator functionality onsite to find a store that is suitable for them. Should any employees require assistance in finding a particular bike, the Halfords Cycle2Work team are also on hand to support. Support is available over the phone on 0345 5046444. This number is also found on an employee's Letter of Collection.
