At Reward Gateway we partner with Halfords Cycle2Work to supply our Cycle to Work scheme. They're working hard to keep up with the increased demand for bikes during Covid-19 and have provided the following statements surrounding stock levels, with the most recent one as of 25th June 2020.
25th June 2020 Statement
It comes as a reply to this BBC article on Cycle to work providers struggling with stock:
"We’ve temporarily sold out of some models, but we’d like to assure customers that stock is being regularly replenished and have tens of thousands of bikes being delivered over the coming weeks, to meet the unprecedented demand. As soon as we have certainty that stock is on its way for popular bikes, customers will be able to request an email alert to be at the front of the queue for when it becomes available."
11th June 2020 Statement:
"Stock and Availability is ever changing and in the current climate we are now living in has given us some stock challenges per say!
We have put in a number of support systems over the past couple of weeks to support our customers obtaining their bikes. Currently on halfords.com employees can view all available stock as well as signing up to receive notifications of when stock is due back in.
We are currently looking at about a two week turn around for employees getting their bikes, this is however changing daily. To give you some insight, other Cycle2work Providers are advising up to a 4 Month wait on stock!
We are also expecting significant re-stocking over the next two weeks of 15,000+ Units of Carerra Bikes and 12,000 + Units of Boardman bikes. Electric bikes will be included in this re-stock, however stock is not as low on E-Bikes at present moment in comparison to non Electric Bikes.
Tredz.co.uk also have considerable stock available, as well as a notification system for customers on their chosen bikes.
We do expect the current stock issues to ease over the coming weeks!"
11th May 2020 Statement:
"As you will have seen in the news over the past week, the Government and the World Health Organisation are encouraging more people to consider cycling as an alternative option to their normal commuting ways. As we work towards getting Britain back to work we understand the vital role we have to play in this and have all the plans in place to both help our partners and clients promote the health & wellbeing benefits that cycling can provide whilst adhering to social distancing measures. Over the coming weeks we will be sharing these with you and look forward to becoming an integral part of your travel and sustainability plans to help get colleagues back to work.
We also want to take this opportunity to provide an update on how cycling has been received by the public since lockdown measures were put into place on the 23rd March. As you can appreciate we have seen an unprecedented demand for cycles which has been felt across the cycle retail industry, but as the UK’s leading cycle retailer we are best placed to ensure limited stock positions are quickly rectified. Over the next week we will be opening more of our stores throughout the UK under our dark store model which ensures the health and safety of our colleagues and customers at all times as the demand for cycles and accessories continues to increase. This will allow customers to access previously unavailable stock.
Overall whilst wait times will be slightly longer than usual, as we own our own supply chain we can ensure these delays will be minimal and that we will meet the public’s demand as we work towards a new normal in society which cycling to and from work will become a way of life for many people in the years to come.
I would like to thank you for your continued support and we look forward to working with you to ultimately help more people transition to cycling as an essential mode of transport for both commuting and leisure purposes."
