Donating to charitable causes is important to many of the employees who use the Reward Gateway platform to receive recognition or save money.
In response to research that reveals that a growing percentage of employees feel their job is more fulfilling when they are provided opportunities to make a positive impact, Reward Gateway have partnered with GlobalGiving, the first and largest crowdfunding community connecting nonprofits, companies, and donors around the world.
The partnership enables Reward Gateway clients and their employees to donate easily to more than 4,000 vetted nonprofit projects and organizations around the world right from the Reward Gateway platform.

GlobalGiving is available to all UK and US SmartAwards™ and / or SmartSpending™ clients. Clients that would like to offer their employees with a wide choice of charitable causes can speak with their Client Success Manager, to request that this option is activated for them.
How does it work?
Donating to a GlobalGiving charity is just like buying a voucher on the Reward Gateway site. Employees can select the amount they want to donate by using all or part of their award balance (or earned Cashback, for clients using SmartSpending™).
Once an employee has purchased a voucher, they will get an Instant eGift Card (US) / Instant Voucher (UK) on the RG site, and a link to the retailer site (Global Giving) to redeem it. From there, it's simple:
- The gift card code will automatically track to the GlobalGiving site - no copying and pasting required.
- Find and select a project to support, and check out
- Get a personal email receipt for their donation and receive regular updates on the impact of their donation

Is there a minimum donation amount?
There is a minimum of £5 (for UK orders) or $10 (for US orders) for the donations.
Where is it available?
GlobalGiving is available to US and UK employees.
How many charities or causes are available?
GlobalGiving facilitates donations to over 4,000 non-profit projects and organizations around the world.
How do we know the charities are legitimate?
GlobalGiving has vetted more than 10,000 organizations. To ensure each of them meets GlobalGiving's guidelines, they evaluate the legitimacy, reputation and impact of organizations no matter where they do their work.
How much of an employee’s donation goes to the charity?
100% of the employee's donation goes directly to the charity cause. Reward Gateway covers administration costs in full.
Are there any tax implications for client companies?
What kind of reporting is available for client companies?
In Reward Manager, the client will be able to run a R22 report (Retailer Engagement by Offer Spend) that showcases the spend per retailer for a particular time period. In the case of donations the client will be able to see how much has been donated to GlobalGiving with this report.
The R501 (Retailer Engagement by Transaction Count) report will provide an overview of the number of orders placed with a retailer (in this case, GlobalGiving). The combination of the two reports will be able to show how many people have donated, and how much has been donated.
Clients will not be able to see which GlobalGiving charity their employees donate to.
What is reporting data is tracked?

- Amount of $/£ donated
Who do employees call/contact if there’s a problem with the process? Reward Gateway or GlobalGiving?
Employees should contact the Reward Gateway Helpdesk if their gift card hasn't shown in their Account (Instant Vouchers or eGift Cards history section).
For all other questions or concerns - for example, help with using the e-gift card code - employees should contact Global Giving.
Does the GlobalGiving Voucher/Gift Card expire?
All GlobalGiving’s gift card codes will expire after 10 months from the date of issue. When the card expires, any remaining funds on the card will be donated to the GlobalGiving Fund that will be used to provide matching funds and other grant incentives for the projects on the GlobalGiving site.
Can clients set up donations to their own choice of charities instead of using GlobalGiving?
The Reward Gateway platform does not support integrations with charities outside of the GlobalGiving network. All donations made through award balances need to be arranged by obtaining a GlobalGiving voucher.
