- The three steps to powerful and sustainable recognition that drives results are (1) tell the Action the person did, (2) connect the actions to a company Value or focus area and (3) share the Impact the person's actions had on customers, the team or the business. When you recognize an easy way to remember these steps is to use the acronym "AVI".
- Sometimes it can also help to ask yourself, “What did the person do that others can learn from?" Or, "What might have happened if they DIDN’T do this?” Using these thought starters will make the story more interesting to read and increase the appreciation felt by others.
- Including details about what happened doesn’t need to make the recognition sound dry – use your own words and include your personality.
