When arranging discounts with shops and stores, we're always looking at three key things: 

1. We want to get the biggest discount possible
2. We want to minimise any terms and conditions 
3. We want to make the mechanism (the way your employee gets the discount) as easy as possible

Loyalty cards win hands down on number 3 - the ease of use. You just do your shopping as normal and show the card at the checkout and earn an extra bonus. What could be easier? But the problem with these cards is that the discount rate is actually very low - as low as 1%.
