How cache & cookies work
Cookies are files created by sites you visit. They make your online experience easier by saving browsing data. The cache remembers parts of pages, like images, to help them open faster during your next visit.
Cookies are small files that contain information useful to a website — such as a password, preferences, browser, IP Address, date and time of visit, etc. Every time the user loads the website, the browser sends the cookie back to the server to notify the website of the user’s previous activity.
A web cache is an information technology for the temporary storage of web documents to reduce server load and perceived lag. Cache is just a collection of data downloaded to help display a web page.
The browser cache helps you speed up your site and lessen the load on your server – that's all it's used for. Cookies are small text-based files that let you track, identify, or otherwise store information that's unique to each visitor.
What happens after you clear this info
Your apps and web browser store bits of information to speed up your experience using them. Over time, your phone may collect a lot of files you don't really need. You can clear out the files to free up a little storage space on your device. Clearing cache can also help with website behavior issues.
After you clear cache and cookies:
- Some settings on sites get deleted. For example, if you were signed in, you’ll need to sign in again.
- If you turn sync on in Chrome, you’ll stay signed into the Google Account you’re syncing to in order to delete your data across all your devices.
- Some sites can seem slower because content, like images, needs to load again.
That is why we would recommend clearing cache and cookies for specific websites/domains (as described step by step below for each browser we support). The RG domains are:
rewardgateway.co.uk
rewardgateway.com.au
rewardgateway.com
rewardgateway.co.nz
rewardgateway.co.ie
mxm.mxmfb.com
rewardgateway.zendesk.com
rewardgateway.net
If you want to find out more about how RG handles cookies check cookies policy please visit the Cookie Policy page which you can access from the options at the bottom of the website or by visiting https://example.rewardgateway.com/CookiePolicy
Why clear cache and cookies
When you use a browser, like Chrome, it saves some information from websites in its cache and cookies. Clearing them fixes certain problems, like loading or formatting issues on sites. Deleting the cache data helps to troubleshoot, helps to increase the loading time of web pages and increases the performance of your computer. If the browser doesn't load the new version of the site, even if there have been changes on the site since the last visit, the cache can cause issues with the view. It is a good idea to clear your browser cache because it prevents you from using old forms, protects your personal information, and helps the applications run better on your computer.
