This guide will help you achieve expected results when discussing Login Page Images with your clients.
Dimensions
The dimensions of the login image are 1920x1080 pixels, it can be either JPG or PNG format, preferably 2MB file size or less.
Things to avoid
Think of the login screen as something similar to the login screen of your laptop or desktop computer - it is a visually pleasing image and few fields to authenticate you. All the information must be put on the right side - in the about box. Follow these few rules:
- DO NOT USE photos of actual employees as they can leave the company and then you will have to rework the login screen - it’s inefficient and unsustainable.
- DO NOT PLACE essential elements OUTSIDE of the safe area (explained later in this document), because they can be cropped - the image is somewhat fluid to fit many different screen resolutions.
- Put all the necessary textual information in the welcome text on the right.
The login image must complement the more important login information on the right and not steal the attention of the viewer. It may show some visual cues about the platform but should never contain important information or logos, or even text.
Now take a look at the safe area and some examples
Safe Area
If you want to ensure nothing important is cropped please refer to this safe area guide.
The safe area roughly defines where you can put some visual element and expect it to be seen on any screen without being cropped. Everything placed into the red area risks being left out. Again - let’s try not to include logos, text or human faces in the safe area. Keep it simple :-)
Some good examples
Use images which picture employee benefits - a gift, maybe a piggy bank, money savings.
Use images with metaphors for unity, togetherness and team spirit.
Some treatments like colour wash/overlay may help ordinary images look aligned with your client’s brand
Utilize patterns - like rows and columns of icons used for client’s company values
Closeups of people holding a mobile phone or working on a computer
Thank you!!
