Learn how to set up a personalized goal challenge and choose a realistic goal range
What are personalized goal challenges?
Personalized goal challenges allow users to set their own activity goals from a pre-determined range. As admin, you will be required to enter this range during challenge creation.
How do I determine a goal range?
Your range will depend on the challenge mode you've selected. Please refer to the challenge mode you've selected for specific recommendations:
Set a goal range for Streak
In Streak, users will aim to reach the same daily goal every day of your challenge. This means the goal should be something users can realistically achieve every day of the challenge without missing any days.
Set a goal range for Stick to It
In Stick to It, users will aim to reach the same daily goal a set number of times during your challenge. As an admin, you will determine the number of times your users will aim to meet their daily goal. The daily goal you chose can be a bit more challenging than a Streak because users can miss a few days and still reach the Stick to It goal.
Suggested goal ranges for Streak & Stick to It
If you're not sure of a range to set, we suggest the following ranges to accommodate users of varying activity levels:
- 2,000 - 40,000 steps
- 1 - 10 miles or 2 - 15 km
- 15 - 120 active minutes
Set a goal range for Target
In Target, users aim to reach a long-term goal over your challenge duration. This means the goal should be something users can work towards over the length of your challenge, not a goal they'll reach daily.
Suggested goal ranges for Target
If you're not sure of a range to set, we suggest the following ranges to accommodate users of varying activity levels:
- 2,000 - 40,000 steps, multiplied by the number of days in your challenge
- 1 - 10 miles or 2 - 15 km, multiplied by the number of days in your challenge
- 15 - 120 active minutes, multiplied by the number of days in your challenge

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I edit a goal range for a challenge that hasn't started?
If your challenge hasn't started yet, you can edit your goal range from the Admin Center. View your challenge dashboard and select the Edit challenge button to get started. From there, adjust your goal and select Save.
Warning: There could be users who already entered their goal within the previous range. These goals will not change after you update your goal range.
Can I edit a goal range after a challenge starts?
Once your challenge starts, your goal range is final. You will not be able to edit your range after the challenge begins.
Can a user edit their goal after a challenge starts?
Users can edit their goal before the challenge begins, but users cannot edit their goal once a challenge starts. If the challenge starts and a user hasn't set a goal yet, the user will not be able to view challenge scores until they set their goal.
What happens if a user doesn't set a goal?
-
For challenges over 7 days: After 7 days into your challenge, the goal range minimum you selected will be applied to any participants without a goal.
- For challenges at or under 7 days: On the day after your challenge end date (the first day of the grace period), the goal range minimum you selected will be applied to any participants without a goal.
This ensures that all participants’ activity will be scored into your challenge.
