AwardNominator™, part of the SmartAwards™ offering by Reward Gateway, enables clients to use peer-nominated awards as a key recognition tool within their organization.
Using a simple form that sits on their recognition platform, anyone in the client organization can nominate a colleague for an award. Whether it's to encourage the celebration of hard work and success, or perhaps improve and reinforce company culture and behaviors, AwardNominator™ is a great way for colleagues to show some extra special appreciation for one another.

Nominations for specific employee groups and times of the year
Clients can set up as many AwardNominator™ programs as they like.
Multiple programs are helpful for clients who have a large number of recognition initiatives that involve nominations for different purposes (e.g. Employee of the Year / Team of the Month / value-related nominations open all year), or want to segment some of their AwardNominator™ programs for specific groups of nominators and nominees (e.g. initiatives only specific geographies or business areas can take part in).
Clients can also request that one or more of their nomination forms are only active at certain times of the year. This can help manage nomination programs that are only open for submissions during specific periods, avoiding the risk that nominations are sent through at times when the business does not have resources to process them.
Customizable nomination form
Each AwardNominator™ program comes with a customizable nomination form, where clients can add as much information as they need about the initiative, available awards, and any guidelines they want to share to help nominators make their entry the best they can.
Nominee names, chosen award type and award reason are mandatory in all nomination forms. Clients can also choose to add more custom fields to collect further details from nominators. The range of custom fields available includes:
Text (one line only)
List (one answer only from a list of pre-set options, displayed in a dropdown)
Radio (one answer only from a list of pre-set options, displayed as a list with buttons)
Checkbox (one or more answers from a list of pre-set options, displayed as a list with checkboxes)
Section break (a header, helpful if the client wants to break down the form in different sections)
File upload (option for the nominator to upload a supporting document)
Clients can choose which custom fields to add, and which should be mandatory or optional.
Nominate individuals or groups
At implementation, clients can choose the setup that best suits each of their AwardNominator™ programs:
- Individual nominations: nominators will only be able to enter one nominee at a time in the nomination form
- Group nominations: nominators will be able to enter up to 50 nominees in the nomination form, for the same award. If the nomination is approved, each nominee in the group will receive the monetary value linked to the award the nominator has selected
Nominators can choose to share nominations to a social feed
On platforms that have Social Recognition enabled, nominators will be able to choose whether to 'Send & Share' their nomination (i.e. display it on the Social Wall for others to react and comment), or 'Send Privately' (i.e. send it to the recipient without sharing it on the Wall). Their choice will be applied once the nomination is approved.
Approvers also have the option to add their own comments before approving a nomination; these will also appear on the Social Wall as a comment, if the nominator has selected 'Send & Share'.
Flexible approval structure
Employees who have permission to review nominations are given Approver access in Reward Manager by the Client Support Team, on the client's request.
At implementation, clients can choose the approval structure (Nomination Method) that best suits each of their AwardNominator™ programs. Read this article to learn more about all the options available.
We also recommend setting up one or more Super Approvers on the platform. Super Approvers can view and action all nominations on any AwardNominator™ program, which can be especially beneficial when designated approvers are inactive or out of the business for a long period of time.
Email notifications at all stages of the process
AwardNominator™ is designed to keep nominators, nominees and approvers informed at every stage of the process, through the emails listed below:
- Nominator notified that their nomination was submitted
- Nominator notified that their nomination was approved
- Nominator notified that their nomination was rejected
- Nominator notified that their nomination was amended before approval (e.g. the approver has changed the award value)
- Nominee notified that they have been nominated
- Nominee notified that their nomination was approved
- Nominee notified that their nomination was rejected
- Nominee notified that they have won an award
- Approver notified that there are pending nominations to review
At implementation, clients can choose which of these emails should be enabled for each of their AwardNominator™ programs.

Availability & Cost
AwardNominator™ is a product option within SmartAwards™, and is available globally.
Colleagues in all countries can nominate for non-monetary awards. Monetary awards can only be redeemed in selected countries where we are able to offer redemption options.
SmartAwards™ is a chargeable product, and the only additional cost for AwardNominator™ is that of any monetary awards themselves.
