Introduction
This article provides information on how to set up the Viva Engage integration in the Microsoft Admin Center and in Reward manager. This information is useful to clients who wish to set up Viva Engage in the tenant to connect it to the Reward Manager (RM).
Prerequisites
To be able to set up the application in the Microsoft admin center, you need to have the Global admin role. Your account will be used to send the messages in the viva engage communities.
How To Create Viva Engage App in Microsoft Admin Center
- Navigate to the Microsoft admin center: Microsoft Entra admin center, and navigate to the App registration tab.
- Click on button to add new application.
- At this stage, you will need to create an app name, such as Viva Engage, and specify a redirect URI. The redirect URI will be used to redirect the user back to RM after authentication. The redirect URI you must specify is: https://accounts.rewardgateway.com/callback.php.
- From the drop-down menu on the left, select Web.
- For the Supported account types field, please select your account.
- After your application is created, you will see the home page with the details about your app. After that please navigate to the Certificates & secrets and click on + new client secret button to create new client secret.
Note: Save Client secret value. We will need it for the future steps.
- Open the Api permissions page and add next permissions for Microsoft Graph and Yammer:
Microsoft Graph (Community.ReadWrite.All)
Yammer (access_as_user, user_impersonation)
- When you add the permission, please add it as delegated permission.
How To Set Up the Integration in Reward Manager
- Open the Reward Manager and navigate to the Integrations Dashboard and search for Viva Engage integration.
- After that, you will create the viva engage integration you will be redirected to the initial setup page.
- On this step, you will need to populate the fields:
- Name (Integration Name)
- Client Id (You can find it on Overview page of you Viva engage App in Microsoft admin center)
- Client Secret (From the step where you generate the client credentials)
- Tenant Id (You can find it on Overview page of you Viva engage App in Microsoft admin center)
- And Click the continue button.
- On the Authorize step, you need to click on the authorize button
- After that, you will need to log in to your account in Microsoft and confirm requested permissions.
- On the next step, you will need to select the event type when the message should be send to your Viva Engage.
- Select the value from the dropdown and click Continue button.
- Now, you will need to select the Viva engage community to which we will send the message, and Click continue button.
- Check your configuration on Review page and click the complete button.
Now, your integration is fully set up and ready to send recognition to your community.
