Avios | Overview

Avios is the reward currency of the British Airways Executive Club, AerClub, Iberia Plus, and Vueling Club.

The employee can collect Avios on flights, hotels, shopping, and car rental or with one of our many other partners. With so many ways to collect, they'll soon have enough Avios to spend on all of the travel things they love, including flights, hotels, car hire, and experiences to create that perfect trip.

The employee needs a British Airways Executive Club membership account (BAEC) to redeem Avios. It’s free and easy to sign up if they aren’t a member. 

Avios | Flights

Here are the different ways to redeem Avios for booking flights globally:

• Reward Flight – jet off in style using your Avios, only paying taxes, fees, and carrier charges, and enjoy full flexibility with your ticket.
• Reward Flight Saver (the UK only) – pay as little as £1 and 18,500 Avios for your next return flight. Our Reward Flight Saver offers a fixed cash cost, inclusive of taxes, fees, and carrier charges plus an Avios amount.
• Avios Part Payment (aka Pay with Avios / PwA) – reduce the cash price for your flight with as little as 1,000 Avios. The more Avios you use, the less cash you’ll need to pay.
  

Reward Flights (RF)

Flights you book using Avios to cover everything apart from the taxes, fees and charges are called Reward Flights. You can book to worldwide destinations, where there’s availability, via British Airways, Iberia, American Airlines and their oneworld® partners. The only cash amount required for Reward Flights is to cover the taxes, fees and carrier charges.

On all British Airways flights to and from London Heathrow and London Gatwick, BAEC guarantees a minimum number of reward seats. They offer:

• at least 8 seats in economy (Euro Traveller and World Traveller)
• 2 seats in premium economy (World Traveller Plus)
• 4 in business (Club Europe and Club World).

Reward Flight Saver (RFS)

Reward Flight Saver offers customers great value flights with a low, flat fee to cover taxes, fees and carrier charges and a fixed Avios amount. To be eligible for Reward Flight Saver, you need to have collected at least one Avios in the past 12 months.

For Short Haul, only the UK and US have specific pricing (£1, €1, and $2). All the other market prices in that list are converted at the FX rate at the time. Only UK customers are eligible for Long Haul.

  ❍ Example UK (June 2022): 18,500 Avios is enough for an off-peak return economy flight for one person from London to over 40 European destinations such as Geneva, Milan and Nice

Pay with Avios (PWA)

Part-payment is available on:

• British Airways flights
• American Airlines flights between the UK and North America
• British Airways codeshare flights operated by Aer Lingus, Iberia, airBaltic, Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, Bangkok Airways, Cathay Pacific, China Eastern, China Southern, Fiji Airways, Finnair, Japan Airlines, LATAM, Loganair, Qantas, Qatar and Vistara.

No restrictions based on country of residence. You can reduce the price of selected regular cash bookings by paying part of the price in Avios. You'll earn Avios and tier points back on the flight as well. See more details on the British Airways website.

  ❍ Example UK (June 2022): With savings ranging from as little as 1,000 Avios for £10 off any Economy return flight for bookings made in GBP, departing from the UK.

Not offered for bookings made:

• Originating in Russia
• Originating in Kenya
• Originating in Libya
• Originating in Ghana
• Going to or from Zambia
• Going to or from Liberia
• Going to or from Sierra Leone
• Going to or from Angola
• Going to or from Uganda

Upgrade your flight

Upgrades can be made as long as reward flights are available..You can use your Avios to upgrade a regular cash booking to the next cabin, where there’s availability, on selected fares.
