Reward Pass & Prepaid Cards - Redeeming an Award With Reward Pass or Prepaid Card Options: The User Journey

This guide describes the how members can redeem their recognition award points with Reward Pass (or other prepaid card options). Note that prepaid options are not available on all platforms and availability will depend on the organization.

Other names of prepaid card options may be as follows, based on region:

• Reward Pass
• Virtual Promotional Prepaid Mastercard
• Visa eReward 

Please note that this is an example user flow for USD but is also applicable for all Reward Pass and prepaid card options, currencies and countries.

Process

Step 1: Members will be able to see their award balance, in points and currency, on their Account Settings page on the platform by going to Account > My Account.

Step 2: From here, click the Use Balance button to open Reward Marketplace.

Note: If their award balance is 0, they will not be able to see this option.

Reward Marketplace will open.

Step 3: Search for Reward Pass in the search bar, and click on it to open it.

The Reward Pass window will open.

Step 4: Click Terms & Conditions to expand and read the full T&Cs.

Step 5: Enter the amount of the order, then click Add to Basket:

Step 6: Members will review the order and complete the purchase on the platform:

Step 7: The Reward Pass Prepaid Mastercard is instantly recorded on the member's account on the platform. A record of the order can be accessed immediately after completing checkout by visiting the Account Settings page and selecting My Instant Vouchers on the left-hand side menu. 

Important: At this point, the Reward Pass Prepaid Mastercard has been purchased but still needs to be activated. 

The Reward Pass token will be sent to the member via email and the rest of the process takes places outside of the platform. Note that how the screenshots and following steps appear may vary depending on the suppliers of the prepaid card.

Outside of the benefits platform:

Step 8: The member receives an email with the instructions on the next steps. Clicking Access Your Card will take you to the website to register the card:

Step 9: On the website, enter the details that will be associated with the Reward Pass Prepaid Mastercard:

Note: If the user has spent above a certain amount, they may be given the option to choose a physical card at this point. (Limits can be seen in the article: An Option for Multi-country Award Redemption.)

Step 10: The member will confirm their choice, and agree to the T&Cs. 

Step 11: The virtual card details will be available (or if a physical card has been chosen, the relevant information on packing and shipping times will be displayed instead).

The member will also receive a confirmation via email:

Step 12: Members can add their Reward Pass prepaid card to their Digital Wallet on the website.

(If they have already used Reward Pass, they can add it to their existing Digital Wallet. If this is their first purchase, they can create a new Digital Wallet, choosing a username and password for future access.)

Important Notes

The Reward Pass Prepaid card details, including expiry date, balance and spend history, are available in the Digital Wallet, accessible through the username and password on the website at the previous step.

The Digital Wallet is hosted on that separate website, independent from the benefits platform.
