Introduction
Use these ideas to ensure recognition is strategic and stays impactful for yourself and for those you work with!
- Schedule time on your calendar as a reminder to go into the online platform (read posts, submit recognition, comment and react to posts).
- Use "A - V - I" when writing recognition: tell the Action, connect it to your company Values and note the Impact of the action on customers, coworkers or business results.
- To have an impact on culture, recognize people on your team for doing the actions that you'd like to see done more (being welcoming to new employees, sharing key information, etc.).
- Comment publicly on recognition posts for your team to increase the impact of the recognition.
- Add a step of going onto the site to an existing process (building schedules, weekly supply orders, etc.) to make it more likely you’ll share stories of great work as it happens.
- Intentionally recognize people who are in a less visible role to ensure their hard work is noticed and celebrated.
- Make recognition part of everyday life at work (e.g., start each meeting with a recognition example).
- Balance recognition between face-to-face acknowledgement (meaningful and great for simple reinforcement, but can’t be used as a teaching tool) and recognition in the online platform (more formal recognition can be more meaningful for some, it can increase visibility of great work across the company and can easily be shared for others to learn from and repeat).
- Print and hand out recognitions to make give employees something tangible. Create a bulletin board dedicated to examples of living your company values and display recognition posts on it.
- Include recognition posts in company newsletters, public LCD screens, etc.
- Share recognition stories when onboarding new starters to introduce them to your company’s online program as well as help them learn best practices for delivering your company’s values.
