In times of diminished face to face communication, organizations will need to inform all their employees about changes happening at a fast pace as quickly and efficiently as possible. For this reason we've created an onsite Alert banner where any important messages can be added to the top of the engagement platform which employee will appear once when employees log in.
This messaging feature can be used when a client would like to share company wide information or send instructions to their employees. It is an optional feature which can be manually enabled by a toggle and then disable when the message has fulfilled its purpose.
An Alert banner will appear on top of the page, just as the example below shows:
Settings and appearance
Everyone who has "SmartHub Admin" permissions will be able to set the banner. This can be done on the front-end of the engagement platform in the Account slide-out just below the profile picture and main settings.
Click "Alert banner" to access the banner editor and settings page.

Important: Please mind that there are other banners connected to the other products such as Employee Surveys. The Alert banner is positioned at the top of the engagement platform to indicate its importance to employees. Using the Alert banners sparingly will build the habit for employees not to dismiss them by default. Employees will see it only once when logging into the platform so it is best to ensure the message is concise and clear.

The settings page has the following options:
-
On/off toggle at the very top- deciding how long the banner should be visible is up to the Admin. It can be disabled when it is no longer relevant or the actions that are requested have been completed.
- The 'Preview banner' function is also at the top- clients can view their Alert banner before enabling it to ensure it is correct.
- Title - the title is up to 30 characters and will appear on top of the banner next to the relevant icon. It will give audiences a quick insight what the message is about.
- The message editor - the message itself should contain short text giving an overview of the important update. It is only up to 160 characters to keep the messaging short. There are optional common text styles (bold, italics and underline) and the addition of links and emojis.
- Icon and accent colors - Alert Banners have a range of styles from informative, warning, error to success. These are all colour coded to make sure clients are using the right style to match their message.
-
Button settings:
- Close banner - If the message fits within the word count employees can simply click the button and close the banner making it disappear from the screen.
- Open link - this option is to link a longer post, announcement or any other page to the button.

Here is an example of a warning Alert banner with the button linking to an announcement on desktop:
Here is the same message on mobile, note that for mobile devices the banner will still appear on top but take more space.
