SmartHub - Social Sign-On: Removing Barriers to Engagement

Introduction

This article explains what Social Sign-On is and how it is used with SmartHub. Details are included on the customization options such as which accounts to show on the login page and the employee data which is shared between social platforms and Reward Gateway | Edenred.  

Background

Social Sign-On, also known as Frustration-Free Login, lets users login to their SmartHub engagement platform with their Facebook, Google+, LinkedIn or Viva Engage accounts. It enables quick login for employees to get straight to their platform.

They don't have to remember usernames or passwords - and that means one less barrier to engaging with their benefits program. If the user prefers to use standard username and password, this option remains available on the login page, too.

Clients can also customize the options shown on the login page:

• Choose which accounts members can log in with (a maximum of three): Facebook, Google+, LinkedIn, Viva Engage
• Username and Password
• Add their own background image, logo, Favicon (the little icon which appears on the browser tab), program description and tagline and a mobile app home screen icon

Employee Data

Only the bare minimum of employees' data is shared between the social platforms and Reward Gateway | Edenred. When the user logs in, a small amount of data is needed from the social network provider to create and access their account. We only collect the minimum possible amount to make it easier for members to log in quickly. 

Here’s a list of what each social network provider will pass to Reward Gateway | Edenred:

• Facebook: First Name, Last Name, Email, Gender, Date of Birth
• Google+: First Name, Last Name, Email, Gender, Date of Birth
• LinkedIn: First Name, Last Name, Email, Date of Birth
• Viva Engage: First Name, Last Name, Email, Date of Birth

That’s all the data they send us, nothing more, nothing less, and we pass nothing back to them.

We will only use the data to set up and validate their account.

We won’t share any data with the login providers. 

None of the employees' activity on the platform will feed back to their social accounts or show in their social network feeds. That means, for example, if the social login provider features adverts, the adverts won’t change to retailers they may have been viewing on the platform. Absolutely nothing is shared with them.
