Build it was written by Reward Gateway's Founder Glenn Elliott and Group Reward Director Debra Corey. It explains The Engagement Bridge™ model which Reward Gateway has developed over the last decade by working with over 2,000 clients worldwide.
The Bridge model is central to Reward Gateway's product development strategy and positioning. The book explains everything Glenn and the Senior Team have learned about employee engagement. It's a key training aid for Reward Gateway employees and is of significant value and use to anyone wanting to improve employee engagement – whether they're clients of Reward Gateway or not.
A number of Reward Gateway staff contributed to various chapters in the book and some Reward Gateway clients are featured as "plays", although the majority of case studies are from companies who are not clients.
The book is published independently by John Wiley & Sons and proceeds from the book go to the RG Foundation, which is being established as an independent charity.
Glenn and Debra had complete editorial control and the views expressed in the book are not necessarily the exact views of Reward Gateway (assuming that a company can "have views"). As an employer, Reward Gateway works hard to create an environment where people can and want to do their best work but that doesn't mean that Reward Gateway does or even wants to follow all of the standards and recommended practice in the book.
Reward Gateway supported the development of Build it by paying Glenn and Debra's salaries while they wrote it and is providing ongoing financial support to the long-term marketing of the book.
Reward Gateway benefits from the book's success in three key ways:
- As a training product for our own employees, Build it, if used well will expand our knowledge of employee engagement strategies and practice and will increase the collective ability of our people and help them to help their clients more.
- Being associated with a successful book about employee engagement shows that Reward Gateway is serious about making an actual and meaningful difference for clients, and has the knowledge to do that. It differentiates the company from being a straight technology company.
- Reward Gateway benefits when more companies want to invest in employee engagement and can see results from that. By providing and explaining a model for that (The Engagement Bridge™), Reward Gateway's clients are more likely to be successful than if they installed Reward Gateway's products alone without any additional strategy.
That's the honest answer, as short as we could write it.
