Description
This article describes how to merge Categories in the R1 Report (Registered Users Report). This would be done in Reward Manager, under Smart Products > Smart Insights > Reporting
Background
When an answer/title has been added to the Registration question list more than once (duplicated, added with a different spelling, punctuation, including symbols or spaces for example), or the client makes changes to their Department names for example, there is no way just to rename the title in the list or delete it, but we can merge the old title to the new one.
This is done to keep the reporting data stored under the existing answer/title so that once the old one is merged with the new one, when the new one is used as a filter on a reporting tool, it will show the same reporting data as the old one did.
Process to Merge the Categories
Go to Reward Manager > Smart Products > Smart Insights > Reporting.
The first report on the list is the R1 Report, select it and then hit the View Report button (you can leave the date picker filter as it is).
In View mode, the report will show you all the existing answers/titles in a dropdown by Registration question.
Note: Before starting to merge the answers/titles, we recommend reviewing the existing answers/titles for the specific Registration question listed below the Registration question breakdown heading, and copy/paste them on a document and on the opposite side list the new answer/title. This is just to make it easy for you to search for what you are merging together and avoid merging answers/titles incorrectly.
You need to have the new answers/titles that will replace the old ones, added to the registration question list prior to this (instructions above).
To start merging the answers/titles, go to the View mode of the R1 Report, and find the old answer/title you want to merge/replace with the new one from the registration question list. Then on the right side of the answer/title you can see a Merge button.
When you select the Merge button it will open a Search bar. Enter the new answer/title that will be replacing the current one.
Eg. There is an HR and Human Resources answer/title in the same registration question list.
> Find the HR one and select the Merge button
> Then enter Human Resources in the Search bar, select it
> Click Move to Category
