Introduction
This article gives information on a new update which allows employees to attach images to comments on Blog Posts. Detailed instructions are included on how to attach images with few key points to remember along with an admin view of the feature. Information in this article is useful to clients and members.
Overview
Employees can now add Images within their comments. Whether it’s a quick screenshot, a photo from an event, a chart, a pet dressed up competition, or simply a GIF that perfectly sums up your reaction, employees can now drop it right into the conversation, fostering a more social experience for users on content across the platform.
Why This Improvement Has Been Made
At the core of our employee engagement platform is the belief that effective communication fosters collaboration, creativity, and higher engagement.
Encouraging Engagement: Visual content is often more engaging than written text. The ability to share images can help capture attention and encourage more users to participate in discussions, leading to a more interactive community and engaged workforce.
Fostering Creativity: Allowing users to add images opens the door for creative expression. Whether it’s sharing a photo that illustrates a point or showcasing an achievement, images encourage individuals to think outside the box and contribute in unique ways.
Building a Collaborative Culture: Images can serve as conversation starters and facilitate idea sharing. By enabling users to share relevant visuals, we aim to create a more collaborative environment where team members can learn from one another and build on each other’s contribution.
How It Works
- Navigate to the Blog Post
Go to the blog post where you want to leave a comment. You can find blog posts by browsing the Blogs section on the platform, searching, from tiles, or from emails. - Open the Comment Section
Scroll down to the comments section below the blog post. Here, you will see existing comments and an option to add your own. - Click on the Comment Box
Click Write a comment... to activate it. - Upload an Image
- Look for the image icon within the comment box.
- Click the icon to open your file explorer or image library.
- Select the image you wish to upload.
- Once selected, the image will appear as a thumbnail in your comment.
- You can also add ALT text to this image as well directly from the UI!
- Add Your Text (optional)
You can write a brief comment to accompany your image. This is a great way to provide context or share your thoughts about the image. - Post Your Comment
After you’re satisfied with your comment and image, click Comment. Your comment, along with the image, will be added to the blog post for others to see.
A Few Key Points:
- Multiple file types are supported (JPG, JPEG, PNG, WEBPG, or GIF).
- Maximum file size is 5MB.
- Maximum Dimensions - 'width' => 4000, 'height' => 4000
- One image is enabled per comment
- You can reply to existing comments with images
- You can add ALT text to the image you add, to keep things accessible.
Disabling Images on Comments
If you do not want your blog posts to contain images, you can disable this individual Blog level. This means that while you may want to disable images in comments on specific blogs, you may keep it enabled on more social feeds. The toggle for this is ON by default.
To disable blog posts, you can go to the Blog Settings and turn off the toggle there.
What Control Do Administrators Have Over the Comments?
Encouraging open and honest communication is a great way to discover how your employees are really feeling, and in today's society, adding images to comments is fundamental to that. However, if employers do see an inappropriate comment made by an employee, they can use the {COMMENT ADMIN} permission to delete comments instantly.
