Introduction
This article explains which push notifications exist within the Engage App. Members can opt in or out of these notifications, and we explain how to do that below.
Background
When it came to building the push notification feature for the Engage App, we had to tread a fine line – keep employees up to date on the latest savings so they can save as much as possible without bugging them with so many notifications that they become disengaged with the offering altogether.
Types of Notification
There are two main push notifications sent from the app:
1. Top Offers.
This notification is sent every Monday morning when the new set of top offers become available. The push notification employees will see is below:
"Check out this week's new selection of Top Offers!"
2. Favorite Retailer on promotion.
If an employee has favorited a specific retailer which has a promotional offer, the employee will receive a push notification as soon as the promotion starts. Tapping on the notification opens that retailers page within the app. The push notification employees will see is below:
"[Retailer] is on promotion today. Don't miss out!"
Push Notification - Opt Out
Members are free to switch notifications off at any time.
> Select My Account (by tapping the icon in the top-right corner of the app):
> Select Notifications:
> Here you will see the notification types you can toggle on or off:
Note: If the employee has the app installed on more than one device, the notification setting choice will apply to all devices.
Those who already have a blanket choice not to receive any push notifications on their mobile device (through the operating system's main settings) will not receive a push notification from the app. This is regardless of whether this is set to on/off within the My Account section of the app.
