What is top-up by text?
Top-up by text allows employees to add money to their reloadable cards without having to log into the site. It's a convenient way of managing shopping cards for employees who aren't always at a computer.
How does it work?
Once the employee has made a purchase online and saved a payment card to their account, they need to text the following to +442033229065:
- TOPUP
- The last 8 digits of the gift card they want to top-up
- The amount they want to top-up in GBP (don't use a £ sign)
After the employee has sent the message they will receive a confirmation text from us which confirms the order amount + how much they will be charged. The employee will need to reply to this message with their card security code to complete the transaction.
Activating cards
Employees can activate their cards by text message as well. The letter that is sent with new reloadable cards contains instructions and a unique code that the employee should use. The employee needs to text their unique code to +442033229065 to activate their card. Funds will be added to the card within the normal timeframe for activations.
FAQs
Does it cost employees anything to top-up by text?
Employees will be charged the standard rate that their network charges for text messages.
Can employees top-up from abroad?
As long as the employee has saved payment details on their account they can top-up by text from abroad. They should be aware that their network will charge the roaming rate for the text message.
Is top-up by text secure?
It is very secure as we don't store any of the text messages that someone sends us on our database. The only thing we can see on an employee's account is the last 4 digits of the payment card that they've used. We use SSL encryption so that no external parties can access this information.
What if the employee sends an incorrect text? (missed digits, incorrect info, wrong denominations, sent in error)
The employee will always receive a reply from us asking them to confirm the details of the transaction before it goes ahead. If the employee is happy to proceed they will need to reply to that message with their card security code, otherwise the transaction won't complete.
