Overview
The following article provides information on the processes surrounding arrangements for additional counselling services.
Requests from an Affiliate Counsellor
The process for additional sessions is that if a clinical practitioner sees it beneficial for additional sessions to commence, they will submit a formal request to Health Assured along with the consent of the individual to break confidentiality to their employer. This request must come from the mid-way point of sessions, to the final session. We would not facilitate extra session requests from the affiliate counsellor after the case is closed, so that the affiliate counsellor has time and space to signpost the individual to longer term support and bring the sessions to a safe ending. If appropriate, this request then gets sent to the relevant contact at the employer to authorise funding.
All additional sessions are to be paid to Health Assured directly.
- Face-to-face and online counselling: £77.00 plus VAT per session.
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy: £125.00 plus VAT per session.
The final counselling session involves signposting an individual to longer term support and bringing sessions to a safe end, therefore any additional sessions must be approved prior to the final session.
Requests from Employees or Employers
If an employee has come to you as an employer to request extra sessions, and you have not received any communication from Health Assured, it is highly likely that this is because the affiliate counsellor has not recommended this.
We would not be able to facilitate extra session requests that come from an employee or employer directly, as this needs to be clinically assessed and recommended by a practitioner. If this was the case, and the employee has already ended sessions, you would need to refer them back to Health Assured via a wellbeing referral so that they can complete a new clinical assessment and this can be fully assessed as to what the most appropriate support is.
