Introduction
This guide will walk you through the complete activation process, including how existing users can connect their accounts and how new members can register for the first time.
Overview
We're excited to introduce an enhanced member activation experience for Engage App (formerly SmartSpending). This new activation flow provides a streamlined, user-friendly registration process that makes it easier for members to access their benefits and rewards.
The updated flow includes improved email verification, flexible registration options using either invite codes or program URLs, and a more intuitive step-by-step journey from initial sign-up to full account activation.
Member Registration Process
Step 1: Accessing Engage
When a user navigates to Engage App, they are presented with two options:
- Register - For new users creating an account
- Sign In - For existing users with accounts
Existing Users
Important: If a member has previously registered with Edenred (for Discounts or another program), they may already have an account in our system.
When connecting to Engage, the system will automatically check for existing accounts to:
- Prevent duplicate registrations
- Allow members to link multiple programs to one account
- Streamline the sign-in experience
Step 2: Beginning Registration
When a member clicks Register, they will first be prompted to:
- Select Language Preference
- Choose their preferred language for the platform experience
- Enter Email Address
- Input their email address
- Two options will be available:
- Continue - Proceed with registration
- Already have an account? Sign In - Return to login
Step 3: Email Verification Check
After clicking Continue, the system automatically checks if the email address is already registered in the Edenred system.
Scenario A: Email Already Exists
If the email is found in the system, the user will see a message:
"Email already registered. Looks like you've used [email@email.com] before. You can sign in or continue by registering to another programme."
The member will have two options:
- Sign In - Access their existing account
- Register to another programme - Link a new program to their existing account
Scenario B: Email Not Related to a Program
If the email address is not associated with any existing program, the system will send a verification code to the provided email address.
The user will see a screen prompting them to:

If the user doesn't receive the verification code, they have two options:
- Resend Email - Request a new verification code to be sent
- Change Email - Go back and enter a different email address
Step 4: Program Identification
Members need to identify which program they're registering for using one of two methods:
Option A: Invite Code
- Enter the unique invite code received via:
- Invitation email from the organization
- Direct communication from HR/Admin team
- Company communications
Option B: Program URL
- Use the direct program URL provided by their organization
- This URL is unique to each client program
Note for Administrators: Invite codes are available in the scheme fields within your admin portal and can be shared with members through your preferred communication channels.
Step 5: Registration Form Completion
Once the program is identified (via invite code or program URL), members will be presented with a registration form.
Standard fields may include:
- First Name
- Last Name
- Email Address
- Password (must meet security requirements)
- Payroll Number
- Date of Birth
- Zip/Postal Code
- Terms and Conditions acceptance
Important notes:
- Customizable Forms: The registration form is not static and varies based on your organization's setup. Your admin team configures which fields are required, optional, or hidden.
- Payroll Number Assistance: If a member doesn't know their payroll number, they can click the "Don't know your payroll number?" link located directly below the field. This will trigger a request to be sent to the admin team.
Step 6: Completing Registration
After filling out all required fields:
- Review the information for accuracy
- Check the box to accept Terms and Conditions
- Click the Register button
The system will:
- Validate all information
- Create the member account
- Link the account to the appropriate program
- Send a confirmation email
Step 7: Email Activation
Check your email inbox for the activation email from Edenred Engage.
The activation email will contain:
- A welcome message
- An activation link to verify your email and activate your account
- Instructions on next steps
Activating Your Account
- Open the activation email
- Click on the activation link provided in the email
- You will be redirected to a confirmation page
Step 8: Account Activated
After clicking the activation link, you will see a confirmation screen with the following message:
Your account is now activated!
Welcome to [Program Name]. Your account has now been created and is ready for you to log in to. Click the button below to login to your account now.
Click the Login button to access your Edenred Engage account and start exploring your benefits and rewards.
Registration Flow Summary
Here's a quick overview of the complete registration journey:
- Click Register → Select language & enter email
- Email Check → System verifies if email exists
- If email exists: Option to sign in or register to another programme
- If email not related to a program: Verification code sent
- Email Verification (if applicable) → Enter verification code or resend/change email
- Program Identification → Enter invite code OR use program URL
- Registration Form → Complete your profile (fields vary by organization)
- Submit → Registration completed, activation email sent
- Email Activation → Click activation link in email
- Account Activated → Login and start using Edenred Engage
Existing Users
For users who already have an Edenred ID from another program:
- The system automatically detects existing email addresses during the registration process
- Users are notified and given the option to sign in to their existing account
- Alternatively, they can continue to register for an additional program using the same email address
- This allows users to manage multiple program memberships under one email address
